Raise monitor brightness
from minimum until
just before the ‘0’ box begins to lighten,
then set contrast
for best legibility of
black numeral ‘1’ and white letter ‘e’.
If on-screen menus block your view of the grey swatches,
scroll down for another set.
More tipsMake all adjustments in a darkened room, with removable screen shields removed. A properly adjusted monitor may seem “too dark” (especially with shields replaced), but choosing other settings will only make the picture even less detailed and duller. If you can’t achieve pure blacks and pure whites (easily distinguishable from near-black and near-white respectively) your monitor is defective, worn out, or just cheap. If greys don’t vary evenly from black to white, have a professional readjust the monitor “gamma”. |
